Mrs. Kiara Dale-Adenola currently serves as the regional Minority HIV/AIDS Coordinator for the Florida Department of Health in Leon county (DOH-Leon). Her area of service includes: Leon, Wakulla, Jefferson, Taylor, Madison, Gadsden, Franklin, and Liberty counties. In this capacity, she provides and coordinates services to community-based organizations and concerned individuals serving the needs of minorities infected and affected by HIV/AIDS. Mrs. Dale-Adenola currently serves as the Chairman for the Black Treatment Advocates Network of Big Bend (Tallahassee, FL), a local network of HIV/AIDS stakeholders including service providers, community members and leaders, educators, and people living with HIV/AIDS, who mobilize Black communities across the country to confront HIV.
By the end of this training, participants should be able to:
- Understand the cultural aspects of HIV/AIDS–particularly with race and gender.
- Learn HIV/AIDS statistics at the national, state, and local level.
- Identify effective programs that address HIV/AIDS in communities.
- Implement recommendations for public health professionals and health care professional.
