Therefore, health care delivery systems must address the health care needs of diverse and multicultural patient populations. This leadership development session will be presented as a conversation with health care managers and leaders about the need for cultural competency in health care systems, the role of cross-cultural communication strategies; new trends and initiatives to advance cultural competence; cultural competence as a learned set of behaviors; as well as, the fundamentals of self-awareness of attitudes towards other cultures.
